The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is an international organization of volunteer lay-persons who seek, through the spirit of justice and charity and through person to person contact, to help those in need, especially families with children. The Holy Spirit Parish provides volunteers that are needed at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry AND the St. Vincent de Paul Distribution Center -- both located in downtown Indianapolis. Adult and youth volunteers are needed. YOU are welcome to join us for this gratifying experience. There are also 12 regional SVdP Conference Members who undertake home visits in pairs to let the family know that someone cars. they help them prioritize, explain assistance that can be provided and discuss other available resources. These volunteers have had special training to visit with the poor and needy. The SVdP Ministry also oversees the use of monetary contributions that are made in the collections every fifth Sunday, so, we may continue to help those who need money for rent, utilities, and more. These financial resources are used to help the poor who live within the Holy Spirit Parish community. Purpose:The St. Vincent de Paul Ministry exists to serve the poor and needy. We join together with other parish members of the Vincention family with prayers and work, so "that in all things God may be glorified". Who Belongs:Open to all parishioners. We need volunteers to help at the Food Pantry and to help at the Distribution Center. Food Pantry volunteers help to stock shelves one evening per week and to serve customers during the open shopping days. Distribution Center volunteers help serve clients at the Center as a dock helper, sort donations or electrical or furniture repair. Volunteers can assist as personal time permits. Youth volunteers needing service hours are WELCOME! Volunteers can access SVdPIndy.com to use the SignUp Genius for opportunities and times. How Often Do They Meet:The Holy Spirit Parish SVdP Ministry meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Parish Center and works at the Food Pantry and at the Distribution Center in conjunction with other parishes. Work at the Food Pantry is always needed; restocking the Pantry occurs one evening per week. |

Con qué frecuencia se reúnen:El Ministerio SVdP de la Parroquia del Espíritu Santo se reúne el primer y tercer miércoles de cada mes a las 7:00 pm en el Centro Parroquial y trabaja en la Despensa de Comida y en el Centro de Distribución en conjunto con otras parroquias. El trabajo en la Despensa de Comida siempre es necesario; reabastecer la Despensa ocurre una noche por semana. |
