Here at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, we believe that parents are the first and best teachers of their children in the ways of faith by what they say and do. We cannot do it for you. Instead, we seek to encourage, support, and equip parents and other loving adults to teach, pray, and celebrate the sacraments with the children God entrusted to their care. Parents and the Parish form a partnership in the responsibility for forming children in the four pillars of the Catholic faith: creed, sacraments, Christian life, and prayer. We are privileged to be working with families to assist them in their role of educating their children, from preschool to eighth grade. We offer Sunday School Classes for each grade level, as well as sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion. We also prepare families for Baptism of youth who were not baptized as infants. Our CatechistCatechists are called to serve through teaching, witnessing, praying, serving and building community. Through listening and speaking, the catechist teaches with faith and life, and always in the name of Jesus. As a disciple, the catechist introduces and makes known to others the person and message of Jesus Christ and invites them to a loving faith response. We could not provide the quality of Religious Education we offer without the help of our dedicated volunteer catechists. We are always looking for people who can assist us in the religious education of the children in our care. All of our volunteers are trained in the Safe Parish Program as required by the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. We provide training and materials to our catechists. If you would like to help, but don’t feel ready to serve as a catechist, we always need helpers in the classroom and we welcome you! How Often Do They Meet:We have two sessions you can choose from, 10:00am-11:30 a.m. in English and 12:00pm-1:30 p.m. in Spanish each Sunday during the school year, classes are available for children from 4 years old to 8th Grade. These classes not only educate children about Jesus and the Catholic faith but prepare children to receive the sacraments of Penance (confession), the Eucharist (Holy Communion). Aquí en la Iglesia Católica del Espíritu Santo, creemos que los padres son los primeros y mejores maestros de sus hijos en los caminos de la fe por lo que dicen y hacen. No podemos hacerlo por ustedes. En su lugar, tratamos de alentar, apoyar y equipar a los padres y otros adultos amorosos para enseñar, orar y celebrar los sacramentos con los niños que Dios confió a su cuidado. Como discípulo, el catequista presenta y da a conocer a los demás la persona y el mensaje de Jesucristo y les invita a una respuesta de fe amorosa. No podríamos ofrecer la calidad de Educación Religiosa que ofrecemos sin la ayuda de nuestros dedicados catequistas voluntarios. Siempre estamos buscando personas que puedan ayudarnos en la educación religiosa de los niños a nuestro cargo. Todos nuestros voluntarios son entrenados en el Programa de Parroquia Segura como es requerido por la Arquidiócesis de Indianápolis. Nosotros proveemos entrenamiento y materiales a nuestros catequistas. Si a usted le gustaría ayudar, pero no se siente listo para servir como catequista, siempre necesitamos ayudantes en el aula y ¡le damos la bienvenida! Con qué frecuencia se reúnen:Tenemos dos sesiones que usted puede elegir, 10:00am-11:30 a.m. en inglés y 12:00pm-1:30 p.m. en español cada domingo durante el año escolar, las clases están disponibles para niños de 4 años de edad a 8vo Grado.
