If you are not Catholic, but would like to become Catholic, The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a series of classes designed to introduce new candidates to the Catholic faith and prepare them for the sacraments of initiation. If you are Catholic, but have been away for awhile, you are also welcome to join the OCIA to reaffirm you faith, refresh you faith and get back in our community. The OCIA ministry leads the efforts of the Parish to bring new members into the church. The activities involved by the ministry volunteers are: 1) set-up all meetings, 2) all record-keeping, 3) moral support for the candidates ,4) organizing the "Rites", 5) planning a retreat, 6) hosting the group for gatherings at the Cathedral, 7) planning Holy Saturday Services and reception, and 8) other miscellaneous activities. Why This Ministry Is Performed:Persons seeking to join the Catholic Church need to feel welcome, learn about Catholic teachings and practices, and become participating members of the various ministries of the Church. Si usted no es católico, pero le gustaría convertirse en católico, el Orden de Iniciación Cristiana de Adultos (RICA) es una serie de clases diseñadas para introducir a los nuevos candidatos a la fe católica y prepararlos para los sacramentos de iniciación. Si usted es católico, pero ha estado fuera por un tiempo, también son bienvenidos a unirse a la OICA para reafirmar su fe, refrescar su fe y volver a nuestra comunidad. El ministerio OCIA dirige los esfuerzos de la Parroquia para traer nuevos miembros a la iglesia. Las actividades involucradas por los voluntarios del ministerio son: 1) organizar todas las reuniones, 2) llevar todos los registros, 3) dar apoyo moral a los candidatos, 4) organizar los "Ritos", 5) planificar un retiro, 6) acoger al grupo en reuniones en la Catedral, 7) planificar los Servicios del Sábado Santo y la recepción, y 8) otras actividades varias. Por qué se realiza este ministerio:Las personas que buscan unirse a la Iglesia Católica necesitan sentirse bienvenidas, aprender sobre las enseñanzas y prácticas católicas y convertirse en miembros participantes de los diversos ministerios de la Iglesia. ¿Con qué frecuencia se reúnen?Todos los miércoles por la noche desde agosto hasta Pascua de 7pm a 9pm en el sótano del Centro Parroquial.
